Teenager and big attitude?

i could give many examples of his behavior, but will give recent probs only. My son left college and didnt tell me, he is 18 i also have an 8 year old..He signed on for jsa and last week because millwall was playing, he went there for an allday party and didnt bother to sign on, now he may lose his money. He tells me he cant wait to leave home and he hates me. Bloody hell i may have not been the perfect parent but i havent been the worse. I brought him up alone, and gave him everything i possibly could, going without myself. I dont want a medal for it but some respect would be nice.. He is so lazy lays in bed all day i know he isnt putting himself out to get a job, and i just feel i have to keep my mouth shut as he gets abusive verbally.. why does he hate me so much, when i am in the right with regards to him signing on etc..
