Can they chase me to Aus, even if it's the wrong name?

Name has nothing to do with it in UK, date of birth and national insurance number is what they use and they wont hle anyone else for the money but if they stay at your address they will send demanding letters to that address. If it was a joint account with your mum then she will be contacted for the money.
